Space Library
Configure key details for each space at your venue.
During the onboarding process, our team will have precisely drawn and configured your spaces, including default labels and various optional layers for power, AV, fire exits, and more.
Your Space Library lets you customise a number of these options as required.

Capacities
Each space detects how many chairs are placed within its area. You can then optionally display warnings in the Layout Details panel in the editor when the capacity of your current space is exceeded.
In the editor, the warning will appear in the top-right corner via the Layout Details panel. If you have multiple sub-spaces within a wider area — for example, various rooms within a whole floor — you can list capacities and warnings for each.
Good to know: Similar to the restricted zones, capacity warnings can be configured to show only internally or to all users, including those with whom you have shared the floor plan.
Layers
The VenueCAD team can draw your space with as many layers as required. Here in the Layers section, you can control their default visibility. While you can toggle these in the Layer Manager within the editor, this setting acts as the starting point for every new layout.
Common examples of information included on individual layers include:
- Power and Data: Icons or overlays showing the locations of power and data points.
- Projection Screens: Fixed or retractable projection screen locations.
- Fire Exits: Icons to illustrate fire exits across the floor plan.
- Ceiling Plans: Lighting information or various ceiling heights.
- Partitions: Partition walls shown in various configurations.
Restricted Zones
You can designate certain areas within your floor plan to be off-limits for object placement. The VenueCAD team will draw these areas as overlays; when a user intersects a restricted area, a red highlight and warning will appear.
By default, these overlay areas will only appear when an object overlaps. However, there is an option to have the area visible at all times.
The image below illustrates a Restricted Zone placed over a number of doorways.
Dimensions and Labels
During onboarding, the VenueCAD team will add a series of default dimensions and labels to each space as required. These can be viewed here. Please contact support@venuecad.com to update these at any time.
