Adding Objects
Browse object collections. Use your bespoke venue collection. Create templates, custom objects and more.
Objects are the core of VenueCAD. Every table, chair, screen and exhibition stand is an object that has been precisely drawn to scale, available to drag and drop onto your floor plan. Throughout your venue onboarding you'll have worked with our team to curate your venue collection, a detailed list of everything you use at your venue, ready to go.
Object collections
Objects in VenueCAD belong to one of the following Object Collections -
- Global: The VenueCAD library of objects. Available to all users.
- Venue: Objects at your current venue. Manage in your object library.
- Third Party Rentals: Collections of objects from individual vendors.
Object categories
Each collection is organised into four main categories:
- Tables and Chairs: Various shapes and sizes. Each comes with different chair options.
- Exhibition: Stands, banners, and booths.
- Audio Visual: Screens, lighting, and sound equipment.
- Miscellaneous: General items and decor.
Select a category and you'll see a list of object cards. Simply drag and drop to add to your layout.
You'll see a little preview icon in the top right of each object card. Hover this for a larger preview of the object with dimensions, shown in your current layout units - metres or feet/inches. This includes overall and table only dimensions (if applicable)
Edit object parameters
Once you have added an object to the canvas, the Parameters Toolbar at the base of the screen lets you control a number of details for that object. The options available will depend on the type of object selected.
The example below shows a typical table and chair object with the Chair Parameters panel open. Here you can update the number, layout and direction of the chairs. And select from a dropdown of the available chairs configured at your venue.
Object templates
Object templates allow you to easily reuse selections of objects, including text labels, dimensions and shapes. You can import them into any layout across any space at your venues.
Exporting an object template
To export an object template - select your objects, then right click or find the icon in the Parameters Toolbar. Then select Export Template. You can organise your templates by folders.
Importing an object template
To import an object template onto your floor plan, simply open the objects panel with the icon in the left toolbar. Then find the Object Templates option beneath the four main categories.
Good to know: If you import the template back into a layout using the same space as it was exported from, the objects will be positioned in the same locations. This can be helpful for templates such as staging or sets that you always position in the same location in a room.
Custom objects
In most cases your venue collection should provide you with everything you need for your floor plan. However for those occasions where you need a table or chair that you don't have pre-drawn, you can use our Custom Object tool. This lets you create tables and chairs with a number of configuration options.
To create a custom object simply use the blue Custom Object + button at the base of the Objects panel.
You can choose from Round, Half Round or Rectangle table shapes. And then configure sizes and the number and placement of chairs. Finally you can give this new object a name and it is now added to your venue collection.
You can drag this object onto your floor plan like any other object. Notice the Custom badge on the object card. You can manage your custom objects in your Object Library
