Layer Manager

Organise your floor plan as it grows.

The Layer Manager lets you organise and control the visibility of many details on your floor plan. When drawing your spaces, the VenueCAD team will use layers to separate out various parts of the base linework of a space. You can request additions, or modifications at any time.

Sharing Overview

Open the Layer Manager panel by pressing (L) on the keyboard or find the icon in the Right Toolbar.

Managing layers

Everything on your floor plan is organised into categories -

  • Base Linework: Often you'll see a section at the top for your preconfigured space layers. Whether these are visible or hidden by default can be configured in your Space Library. Here you'll often find detail layers such as fire escape routes, or power point locations.

  • Partitions: If available in the current space you'll see a dedicated section for partition walls.

  • Restricted Zones: If configured you'll see a layer for each available zone. See the Restricted Zones guide for more information.

  • Object Type Categories: Then you'll see sections for Objects, Dimensions, Text etc.

Each layer can be hidden, renamed or locked. Hover each icon to see a description.

Click the layer section to expand or collapse.

Good to know: You can select an object on the canvas by clicking on its entry in the Layer Manager. You'll now see the item highlighted in blue.

Custom layers

In the top right corner of the Layer Manager you'll see a small filter icon which lets you toggle between the standard "By Type" and the "Custom" layer views.

You can now create your own custom layers and assign objects to each layer as required.

You'll also see a "guest" layer. If you have shared your floor plan with full edit access and a guest user has added any objects to your floor plan, they will automatically be added to the "guest" layer. Via the layer menu you can quickly select all objects in a layer and move objects between layers.
